You can swing the bag out in front of you to access the side pockets or main compartment (more on this later) to grab any gear you may need without skipping a beat. Even at this smaller size, the Travel Backpack 30L’s laptop sleeve is still pretty large. It easily swallows our 16-inch MacBook Pro with tons of room to spare. It’s well-padded at the front and the back, and there’s a false bottom to absorb impacts from setting the bag down on a surface.

I'm very happy with this backpack (20 l.), specially when travelling. But I bought it used, and would never pay the price for a new one. I understand that there's a lot of R&D, and customer support creating overhead. I kickstarted Peter's first Capture because it was exactly what I wanted. Then begged them to make a part that could facilitate belt to tripod use. But regrettably vanished with V3, which is also not compatible with plates from V1.
But I think the pack is proportioned too short to make effective use of a hip belt (a belt might help stabilize the pack, but not really transfer the weight to hips). I have other packs to use if "light" is a priority. They're all plenty strong and durable for their intended purpose, but the PD, like Porta Brace and Pelican, is in the "no worries" category of bag I prefer for production use.
The quality is good but not premium as the price suggests. Peak has received more coverage, but it’s spread over a variety of different product categories including straps and their Capture Clip. I forget the model and they don’t seem to make it anymore. However, bags like their 25L Blackhole Backpack or 8L Ultralight Blackhole Sling are worth consideration. Perhaps not the lightest of the light, but a good balance between weight, comfort and durability.
So you can keep your charged batteries on one side and your dead ones on the other. Whether or not that’s useful is totally up to you, but we like it. You can use those colors to organize your bag, keeping a mental note about what’s in which pocket—whether it’s camera batteries, sunglasses, a power bank, or anything else. And the black and gray looks cleaner than the red and blue stitching in V1.
I haven't used it since I got the wandrd PRVKE like 3 years ago. I use it as an office backpack with a place to hold my walkaround camera.Why Wandrd, it is rectangular, the Peak looks cool but on my back it looks like a ninja turtle shell or a ladybug. Wandard can hole a bigger laptop, Peak is for small mac and tablets. The lunch compartment or the curb part is smaller than the wandrd.
